Members exploring anxiety tied to chronic illness symptoms found comfort in knowing they are not alone, with many sharing that flare-ups often trigger panic, depression, and worst-case-scenario thinking. Several members offered gentle coping ideas like guided meditation, engaging in enjoyable activities, and working with a healthcare team, while a former mental health professional encouraged members to take their time before seeking therapy and reminded everyone there is no timeline for healing. A recurring theme was the importance of feeling safe and comfortable in your choices, and that moving at your own pace is a valid and worthy path.

Cheryl,

Just take your time and do what you feel is comfortable at the time. I could not and would not feel comfortable asking someone to talk to someone because it's your decision to make and it will only benefit you when you make the decision. If you make the decision and you are comfortable with the process your therapist can collaborate
with you to help you achieve the best results. Essentially you become a team working together. It's about togetherness. I'm always wishing you well ☯️❤️‍🩹🌿

I was a former mental health professional and I know unless people are willing and comfortable enough to take that step, it will likely make it more difficult. So take your time, gather your info, start where you are comfortable and see where you land. There are not any time tables to healing. Just know when and if you are ready, there will be resources available.I wish you well ☯️❤️‍🩹💜

Have you thought about going to a mental health professional?

Worst case scenario thinking happened to me yesterday when I had the most horrific pain flare. The pain was in my ribs left side but it was like on 100 when my rib pain on left side is constantly at at 30.....it was scary because I couldn't straighten up to walk plus it was spasms....my mind kept saying that I was in real trouble and I was hollering in pain...I knew I had to lock the front door and get to the bathroom. I pushed through but barely.
