I had a GI procedure done on 7/20, in which I had to stand on and X-Ray machine and could barely stand up because my legs felt “like jello” and were “Internally shaking”, and were very week. After the procedure was done, I had to be taken out to the car in a wheelchair, because I knew I could not walk. Woke up yesterday and could not move my leg!!! My knee is the absolute worst part, in which I have to prop it up, rotate ice and heat, and I have a tinazidine (Muscle Relaxer), for my fibro. It… read more

Oh, no! I'm so sorry you are going through this! I feel very badly about your pain and suffering and I hope you recover quickly. From my experience, a back spasm can cause horrendous pain in the legs. Please keep us updated how you're feeling. 😣

That’s really awful, so sorry! I’m a retired RN, and that makes my blood boil. It’s hard to advocate for yourself sometimes. I would take a good friend with you to your appointment for sure!

The combination of symptoms you're describing — leg weakness, knee pain, radiating pain into both sides of your buttocks, and foot/ankle pain — does sound like it could be connected to a fibromyalgia flare triggered by the physical stress of your procedure. Prolonged standing, stress, and physical strain are well-known flare triggers. Here are some things worth considering and discussing with a doctor who will actually listen:

- Push for a referral to a neurologist or physiatrist who can properly evaluate the radiating pain pattern
- Ask specifically about nerve-related pain — fibromyalgia can cause widespread nerve sensitivity that mimics other conditions
- Document everything — write down exactly when symptoms started, what makes them worse, and how they're affecting your mobility
- Tizanidine works differently for everyone; ask about whether your current dosage is appropriate for a flare this severe
- Ice and heat rotation is a good instinct — heat may help muscle spasms while ice can reduce inflammation

The aquatic therapy suggestion isn't wrong long-term, but it's tone-deaf advice for someone who can barely walk *right now*. A second opinion from a more fibro-informed provider would be strongly worth pursuing.
