I went to the doctors today and I told him about me falling over or stumbling when I walk or even standing still. He did the relevant checks etc etc. And then he just said " I don't know what's wrong with you". He has asked me to keep a diary for a month and if nothing makes sense after that he will refer me to a neurologist. Has anyone else had an experience like this before?

Excellent Laura make sure you are forceful sometimes the Gp can be reluctant to refer you I would tell them that you are struggling and you illness is deteriorating and you need to be seen ASAP rather than filling in a diary first you can do that while you are waiting for the appointment with the specialists hang on in there you will get your answers but be prepared for a fight♥️ xxxx
Ever heard of Dr M.Scott peck? He wrote the book 'The road less travelled' He also did talks and you can get these on Amazon audiobooks or maybe even YouTube.
I love his work, He was a psychiatrist. The most honest open minded doctor who told it straight.
Doctors don't know everything about the human body. He stated that in his later years of training some patients would be given a diagnosis with a big name so off he would go to Educate himself on this illness that he had no idea about only to find it did not exist. That doctors have a bunch of names for illnesses that are given to patients to calm them down. In his work he openly and honesty stated he had done this himself in his work as a psychiatrist. When someone is hurting or going through a bad time not understanding what's wrong he found this did calm them down. He also wrote that we can train for years have many letters after our names and it all looks so powerful yet it really is not as what we actually know in this huge beautiful universe Could be written on a pin head compared to what we don't know.
I do hope you get some answers sweetheart, I too am a complicated patient. But that's ok, I look at the body like a huge computer and they need constant care to keep them going. I do hope you feel much better very soon ❤️ lots of love Peps 🌺💓🌼❤️
You got a doctor to say they didn’t know?! That’s like having two blue moons in two consecutive years!
The referral will take at least three months and British GPs are keen on referrals, because they get rid of a patient when they don’t know what’s going on.
Hi Laura from what I have been finding lately is that the understanding of fibromyalgia to the medical community is evolving in how it is quantified or explained. It seems like more medical doctors are sending people to a variety of specialists to obtain a multidisciplinary approach. Neurologists and rheumatologists tend to be included and they address different things. Its nothing to be concerned about and its a better approach to treating your symptoms than many general practitioners can provide. I hope you get some concrete answers. I wish you the best.
