Reported GI issues from cinnamon capsules can include:
- Nausea
- Stomach upset or cramping
- Diarrhea
- Heartburn or acid reflux
- Bloating
A few important cautions to keep in mind:
- Dosage matters — high doses are more likely to cause GI problems
- Cassia cinnamon (the most common type in capsules) contains coumarin, which in large amounts can be harmful
- Ceylon cinnamon is generally considered safer for regular use
- Always check with your doctor before adding supplements, as they can interact with medications commonly used for fibromyalgia
It's worth bringing this up with your healthcare provider, especially since fibromyalgia can already come with digestive sensitivities. What works well for one person may not work the same for another, so tracking your symptoms after taking them can be really helpful.
