I have been dealing with a number of diagnosis besides the fibromyalgia for many years. I recently saw my rheumatologist and he told me everything was good except the fibromyalgia and that's what was causing my extreme symptoms. He would like to start me on Cymbalta for the fibro symptoms. He says these are new results in from testing and they are showing great promise was relief. I am curious if anyone else has tried it?
Howdy! I was on Cymbalta for almost 15 years. I had pain relief with it for about the first 13 years and then the effectiveness started to wane. The one "huge" side effect is it killed my libido. That became frustrating for me and my husband. Anyway, after losing effectiveness I came off it for 6 months. After the medication holiday, I then went back on it to see if the pain relief kicks back in. Well, surprisingly it gave me the worst nausea with vomiting after the first 3 days. I soldiered on for 3 weeks but at that point I decided I couldn't keep going with it. Now I'm off of it. If you can stand any side effects you might get (everyone is different so you may not have any) I would agree it is a good option to try it for pain relief. L,V
It's great that your rheumatologist has been thorough in ruling things out and has a clear treatment direction for you! Cymbalta (duloxetine) is actually one of the FDA-approved medications specifically for fibromyalgia, so it's a well-recognized option in the fibro world.
