My daughter is going through a very difficult time. Thoughts of suicide and self harm. This has caused her brother and sister to become very stressed and angry. They can't see the cry for help, they only see an attention seeker. So I'm dealing with one child who is mentally struggling and two children putting their thoughts and opinions on me and their dad. It's so stressful. I'm so tired and down with it all, and then what I have to deal with on top of that. Can someone explain how I get… read more

Members rallied around a parent asking how to stay strong for her daughter struggling with self-harm and suicidal thoughts while also supporting two other stressed children. Several members shared personal stories of navigating similar family crises, offering practical advice like speaking with school officials directly, exploring family therapy, looking into homeschooling, and encouraging the daughter to write down her feelings. A recurring theme was the importance of the parent filling her own cup through rest and support, with the community celebrating a hopeful update that the daughter had gone six months without self-harm.

So much love to you and all of your children, as everyone continues to process and come to understanding. It can be so hard, especially at those ages. I know it was for me.

Thank you for being such a good mom. Remember to take extra good care of yourself too. πŸ’›πŸ™πŸ’›

I've has a chat to both of my other kids. Jess understands now what's going on and said she just felt emotional last night that's why she said the things she did. My son is a different matter. He's struggling to understand what's going on and has come out with some horrendous things about Amy. But my husband has had a chat and we will have to see. Amy is opening up more to me and has had a good day in school which is fantastic. No complaints or worries. No phone calls or texts. So for today all is good. She has a week off now so we are going to be busy getting the house ready for decorating. Which should be fun. I'm hoping things will get better. I'm in pain in my jaw my legs everywhere just with all the goings on over the past only God knows how long it's been going on for. I'm just hoping the worst is behind us. But we will see. How are you @A MyFibroTeam Member how have you been. Sorry not been on here a lot xxx

Is there anyway you can move her school and put her in another school? It sounds like bullying. My daughter was being bullied at school I was up there all the time, They did nothing. In the end I told my daughter what to do to stop them in their tracks. Then the school wanted to talk with me.
I told them straight.
No messing around, Sent my daughter out while I spoke to the head master. Things changed after that. You can reach the Manchester and Salford Samaritans branch by calling 116 123. Mental health goes on for years not just a year. Blaming your sibling by saying its affecting your health they must understand this is not the case.
They must understand your illness and your daughters illness are very different. That mental health is also an illness.
I would take her out of school for now. Until the school have been spoken to.
Why can't her school give her work to bring home. Obviously making sure she knows she will be going back to school.

Sending so much love and understanding.
You're doing great at being there for your child who is struggling, and for being a safe space for your other two children to express themselves.
Try to build in some space throughout each day to take care of you: however that looks like for you.
But basics: try to eat enough, and drink enough water. Get enough sleep however and whenever you can. Is your sleep really bad at night lately?

Additionally what helps you? Having groceries delivered?
Therapy via Zoom just for your own support and place to "vent"?

You're going through it but remember the "through" part.
