I am in Excruciating pain in my Right Ear!! I cracked a tooth the day before Easter, went to three other dentist’s in which I could not handle the pain, and was told by the third one that if I didn’t get my fibromyalgia under control, no dentist would be able to see me! I finally went to a fourth dentist whose website said he did sedation dentistry. Got there and he said that it was only for children and people with disabilities. Anyways, I just had to deal with the unbelievable pain!!! Never… read more

Members responded with empathy and solidarity to a post about severe TMJ pain and jaw flares triggered by a difficult dental experience made worse by fibromyalgia. Several members shared similar experiences of lingering dental pain lasting weeks, flare-ups after procedures, and feeling dismissed by providers who didn't recognize fibromyalgia as a real disability. A recurring theme was advocating for yourself, with practical suggestions including requesting muscle relaxers from a primary care doctor, pursuing sedation dentistry for future procedures, and consulting an ENT or orthodontist for TMJ relief.

Iam sorry to hear your dentist did not listen to you. Fibro causes me great pain during and after dentist treatment everytime I go bk in to get X-rays to check but nothing shows up😳 the pain still flares up months after treatment for me 🤦‍♀️

Try to relieve the pain using Tongue Position: Keep teeth apart and tongue gently resting on the roof of the mouth.

Gentle Stretching: Gently open the mouth while keeping the tongue on the roof of the mouth.

Sending love and hugs 😘🤗 I hope it eases off soon for you 💖

Sounds like your anxiety goes into overdrive just thinking about going to the dentist. I never had a problem going to the dentist, was even happy about it. But now I am also terrified for the whole process of cleaning and any dental work to be done. I have arthritis, pinched nerve, DDD all in my back. Sitting in their chair at weird angles is the worst pain. The minute the chair goes back I'm done. So I understand your feelings completely.
I would definitely look into being put under for your sanity pain wise. When you talk to your insurance tell them you have a disability and should be covered. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!!! I got my night guard from my son’s orthodontist. It has been really great, but after that horrible dental pain, it has just flared to the worst it has ever been. I just called my PCP and requested a muscle relaxer, as one of these wonderful women encouraged!!! I am not sure if she will give it to me, or just push it back on my dentist ( Who I have only seen for this treatment!) I looked up a few pain management places on healthgrades, as I was provided the link to, by the same beautiful person. I reviewed them, but need to do a little more research to find the best one. I have heard people on here mention an ENT, and I am open to this as well. If I get time today, I will definitely start calling!!! ALL OF YOU GUYS ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! There are a lot of people who hate the internet/social media, etc., but I have found so much friendship, and a whole lot more with each and every one of you!!! Thank you!!!

I'm not sure if this is the same but I will tell you anyway. I had tooth ache from a tooth with a broken filling in it on my bottom right jaw. It caused me so much pain. It gave me pain in a tooth on my upper right jaw. The pain was so bad there to. I had the bottom one extracted and the pain was still so bad. I went to another two dentist to be told there was nothing there. The pain was unbearable. I then got told off the last dentist I saw that it was down to the fibromyalgia (which everyone on here already told me) causing me so much pain. It has gone now but it took forever to settle back down about two weeks. I'm not sure if this is the same thing as I'm still learning myself about what comes with having fibromyalgia. Xx
