I remember when I was working and I didn't have a care in the world as far as pain goes. Then I was assaulted by a young person I was looking after as I worked with kids in care. She put me in a headlock and ragged me about. I could feel the bones crunching together. And from that moment on I had pain in my neck and back, and then in my legs and feet. Just unbearable pain. I clearly remember life without Fibro. I have had back problems for many years off and on but Fibro came on in my early 60s with the random and sometimes global pain and debilitating fatigue. I am now 75 and still struggling with both conditions is a challenge for sure. I recently had my third and biggest back surgery. The interplay between back and body pains makes it hard to distinguish and hard to function. But I am blessed with a great medical team and supportive friends and family.
@A MyFibroTeam Member totally! My sister is a teacher so I’ve seen the teacher tiredness firsthand and it makes sense you’d assume it’s that but I’m glad you know more now
@A MyFibroTeam Member yeah I know now that it can be pretty hard to diagnose but my diagnosis definitely was waylaid by the years spent assuming my pain in my head/neck/jaw was migraine pain and that the body aches were more of some sort of growing pains that were lingering. I’m starting to doubt I’ve ever had a migraine at this point, I think it’s purely fibro pain plus some standard headaches thrown in on top. Oh well cant change the past
@A MyFibroTeam Member I think I read somewhere that fibromyalgia is difficult to diagnose. Someone posted about going to the Mayo Clinic and having a lot of blood drawn. Doctors have to rule out many conditions that might have similar symptoms.
@A MyFibroTeam Member that's a great way to describe how you feel!
