Has anyone gotten strange bruising from scratching or clapping? I kid you not - I was clapping a rhythm part of a song in church yesterday, and by the end of the service, there was a bruise on the palm of my hand. I had scratched my leg that morning also, and now there is a 3-4 inch shiner there. Just plain weird. I'm used to getting random bruises that I can't identify a reason for, but clapping? Really?

I bruise easily as well. Easy bruising can also be a side affect of Lyrica/Pregablin/Gabapentin.

You're definitely not alone in experiencing strange bruising with fibromyalgia. A MyFibroTeam member mentioned that their bruises become painful lumps, which shows how varied these experiences can be.

Easy bruising can happen with fibromyalgia for a few reasons:

- Increased skin sensitivity and fragility
- Changes in how your body responds to minor trauma
- Possible medication side effects if you're taking certain treatments
- The way fibromyalgia affects your tissues and blood vessels

While random bruising is common with fibromyalgia, bruising from something as gentle as clapping is worth mentioning to your doctor. They may want to check if there are any other factors contributing to the easy bruising, like vitamin deficiencies or medication interactions.

In the meantime, you might try being extra gentle with activities that involve repetitive impact, even if they seem minor. And yes, getting a bruise from clapping is definitely one of those "only with fibro" moments that can feel both frustrating and oddly amusing!

I had a bruise which appeared out of nowhere and never faded I would have seen the Dr but there is always so much going on that I feel I should prioritize

I get bruising if I scratch too hard on my skin at times.
