Have others with fibromyalgia experienced difficulty walking?
Yes, mobility challenges are something many MyFibroTeam members experience. Walking difficulties can show up in different ways with fibromyalgia.
Some members describe times when they:
- Shuffle along very slowly because their knees won't bend properly
- Limp on particularly bad days
- Feel like every part of their body is in agony when trying to move
- Need to be encouraged or pushed by loved ones to walk even short distances
The exhaustion from fibromyalgia can make even basic movement feel overwhelming. One member described being so exhausted from travel that they were "stuck in bed and cannot get up to do anything" - not just tired, but truly unable to move.
What helps?
Members have found that pacing yourself is crucial. Some have tried:
- Gentle encouragement from family members
- Using heat pads or TENS machines for support
- Taking breaks when needed
- Not pushing beyond what your body can handle that day
Remember, your mobility can fluctuate day to day. On better days you might walk more easily, while harder days may require more rest. This variation is normal with fibromyalgia.
Have you noticed any patterns in when walking becomes more difficult for you?
