Members shared their frustration with dismissive comments about fibromyalgia, with the most hurtful responses including being told they look fine, that it's just normal aging aches, or that losing weight would help. Several members described being invalidated by friends, relatives, and even healthcare providers who either minimized their pain by comparing it to their own occasional discomfort or suggested fibromyalgia is not a real diagnosis. A recurring theme was the isolation of living with an invisible illness that others cannot see or understand, balanced by deep gratitude for this community where members feel believed, supported, and less alone in their daily struggles.

"Just wait until you're older..." Meaning then you'll really know what it feels like to be exhausted and in chronic pain.

Well... I'm older now! πŸ˜†

I think most people don’t understand. A physical therapist I was working with said that she felt doctors used it as a catch all. It was pure ignorance. I promptly dropped seeing her. So many opinions come from idiots. Sorry not sorry.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I get that all the time. It doesn't help that I am only 42 and look much younger lol.

Grrrrrr! Give them the look! I'm not quite sure what the look is. My children know the look. Apparently it makes them shake. And that's for other people.
The best thing to do is just look without any emotion on your face, keep looking not averting your eyes at all. You'll be the one still there. They all walk away. That must be the look πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
