I went to a pain clinic years ago and found that I could have taught the classes myself. That being said, I’m a retired RN and psychotherapist. If you don’t have that type of background then it would probably help you

Slapping bandaids on symptoms is not effective. You deserve proper Treatment for underlying cause... Perhaps check out brilliant Dr. J. Teitelbaum's books... start with "From Fatigued to Fantastic" 4th ED, plus AMMES..org for info & resources! Ask me anything, am Advocate for over 32 years.

Ahhhh the pain clinic, what joy πŸ™ƒ I had an ap with a phycologist yet because our waiting lists are so long I had to wait 8 months for a initial fill out the forms ap.
He then said he would get back to me with another appointment. 18 moths, seriously I thought I could expire in 18 months best check the sell by date on my behind πŸ˜‚
I waited so patiently, counting down the months, I phoned to inquire if I had read correctly. Finally the week before the appointment came. A letter arrived in the post.
We are sorry to inform you that *his name* has left the island and returned to the u.k your appointment has been noted and as soon as a new phycologist is available we will send out another appointment.

Have others found pain management helpful for fibromyalgia?

Yes, many people with fibromyalgia have found pain management approaches helpful. One MyFibroTeam member worked with a chronic pain counselor who taught them how to "retrain their brain" and shift focus away from pain. This approach, combined with physical therapy to strengthen core muscles, made a significant difference in their life.

The key insight is that pain management isn't just about medications - it's also about changing how you think about and respond to pain. When you shift your focus from catastrophizing pain to something more positive, it can help reduce pain levels and improve your overall outlook.

Some helpful pain management strategies members have tried include:

- Working with a chronic pain counselor
- Physical therapy to build strength
- Acupuncture
- Meditation
- Adjusting medications with their doctor's guidance

One member found that learning to dedicate time for themselves and retraining their brain helped them "ascend into the light" after feeling buried under negative thoughts. The process takes work and doesn't happen overnight, but small improvements can make life more enjoyable.

They gave me a few when I'd had a allergic reaction to steroids and had not slept for 3 nights. The next morning I thought I'd woken up on a different planet. It's bad enough in the mornings with chronic fatigue, and pain is also worse on waking for me. Never again, it was horrible. Fatigue times 100 I wanted to stick my head in a bucket of coffee. Very very strong coffee. It was like a hangover with no gin.
I would not want anyone else to feel that way. 😘😘😘😘
