Being having a migraine for 3 days now. Somebody on a fibromyalgia page I follow on FB mentioned the headaches are caused by small TIAs. Can anybody tell me if this is true? Thanks

A TIA or transient ischemic attack is a temporary episode where the blood flow to the brain is briefly interrupted and can cause numbness, weakness, vision problems, walking difficulties, confusion usually last few minutes to an hour. Needs to be seen in ER. You may be having a migraine. Have you seen a neurologist? They are the ones to see for headaches/migraines. I hope you can get some relief

I'm not sure this answer will help you at all but I used to get what the cardiologist told me was a TIA after looking at Blue Light too long. Before going on coumadin as the cardiologist wanted me to do without any testing, I saw an opthamologist and he said I was not having tia's. I was having an ophthalmic migraine . It occurs from looking at Blue Light too long. I did not have a migraine ...I know those can be severe and you'll need to go into a dark room. Hope you find some help. PS when I I was looking at Blue Light too long or even watching TV too much, a shade came down over my eye for about 10 minutes and then the shade went away. It was very strange.

No, TIAs are not a typical fibromyalgia symptom at all. If you are having TIAs, it's not likely to be FM-related. What you do need to do is see a doctor and get the proper medication or treatment for what you are experiencing.

The last thing you should do is look online for a diagnosis. The internet is chock-full of false information. Things that well-meaning people may believe that are not true.

Talk to a doctor asap. There are good medications and treatments to manage migraines these days. From what I have heard, it's just a matter of finding which one works for you.

IMO, FB is the last place to be looking for support for, well, anything. I've had FM for 15 years and have found Twitter (in the past! not currently) to be a great place for support instantly and live with people from around the world. It kept me out of a deep, dark depression when I was first dx'd. There are many better places than FB online for support. Check out "The Mighty dot com". MyFibroTeam is also a great resource for getting information, help, and support for whatever chronic condition one is dealing with.

Good luck with your search for managing your migraines.

You can find me on Blue Sky these days. My link is on my profile page.
