I've had chronic migraines for over 20 years, and have only recently been diagnosed with fibro.

For the past couple of months though, my migraines have been much worse, and don't always respond to treatment.

Are Migraines with fibro different from normal Migraines?

Members with fibromyalgia shared that while many had migraines before their diagnosis, fibro often worsens them through muscle tension in the neck and shoulders that triggers more frequent and severe headaches. Several members described medications that have helped them manage migraines, including Fioricet, Maxalt, Topamax, triptans like Zomig, and Botox injections, though many emphasized the importance of working closely with a neurologist to find the right treatment since responses vary widely. A recurring theme was the frustration of insurance limitations on helpful medications and the determination to keep living fully despite the daily challenge of managing both conditions together.

Yes the muscles in your back of your neck construct which causes tension headaches that lead to migraines I've had migraines all my life too but since I got fibromyalgia I'm still on the same medication I take Fioricet only as needed but yes ,contributed to fibromyalgia

I take topiamate but it doesn't work like it should and I'm on maximum dose of it plus I have triptans to take. And been on other Meds which have just caused other problems and not helped the migraine at all

Yes, it is amazing how different med's interact with ones that work. Something worth looking into also..
