I had a massage at 11 am today. It relaxed me for a little bit but the pain never really goes away. I suppose that’s something I need to accept. Please share your thoughts and opinions! Thank you 😊

Members shared mixed experiences with massage for fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, with some finding it helpful for temporary relief of muscle tension and trigger points, while others noted their bodies were too sore to tolerate it or that the benefits didn't last long. Several members offered practical advice, including seeking out discounted sessions at massage training schools, trying myofascial release techniques that can be self-administered, and pairing massage with posture exercises for longer-lasting results. A recurring theme was that while massage won't cure chronic conditions, the temporary comfort and relief it provides can be worthwhile as part of managing daily symptoms alongside other self-care practices like stress management, nutrition, and movement.

It’s not about a cure, Trevor. It’s about all the little things that provide comfort, relief and joy, even if it’s temporary- that’s what keeps us going.

Kind of like your infared mat- it won’t cure you, but hopefully it will provide you with some relief. 💛
I think that’s worth something!!

Massage isn’t for me, but for some it makes a difference for some! Some people find routine massages to make a big impact on their life.

And each individual experience with each modality has many other variables at play. Could be something else at play that caused the massage benefits not to last as long. 🤷‍♀️
More and more I’ve come to appreciate the saying, “nothing happens in a vacuum”.

I completely agree, there is no one therapy or product that will make a big difference, especially without consistency and working on improving our sleep, nutrition, exercise, daily movement, stress management, and mindset. 😅💛

I love getting massages on my upper back and neck area. I found a massage training program that offers discounted massage sessions. While I don't go regularly these days, for a while I was and it helped so much with the tension I was holding in my upper back. I appreciated the students working very hard to learn all they could to help people in their chosen profession. So, maybe that's something that might be worth looking into if cost is an issue.

Massage benefits also last longer when paired with posture reinforcement.
Finding the right practitioner can be instrumental, like Donna mentioned. Not to mention there are so many different kinds of massage.

I’ll stop weighing in at some point 😂

I personally prefer myofascial release. You can have a practitioner perform it or learn to do it yourself.
I do it multiple times a week alongside posture reinforcing exercises. Best I can remember feeling. 💛

I’m done, promise. 😅🫠

I find massage helps me. I have a good therapist and she knows where my trigger points are. However, it is temporary. But, my muscles get so tight and massage is the only thing that helps. I was trying to get once a month but ever since Michael died, its been sporatic. I was just thinking its time for another one when I saw this!

Whenever we went to Maui, I would get a lomi lomi massage..so relaxing. Sometimes just the removal of stress on the body helps me. I am due for one in another week or so. Maybe next Monday for my birthday!
