I experience something like this, but it is neurological.

Does the Benadryl seem to be helping?

Hi Annamarie,
I've had a prescription med that helps but mine isn't too bad. Unless I take something like Vicodin then I have a whole battalion os army ants! 🤣

I get that feeling frequently, it drives me nuts. I have to keep my fingernails trimmed or I will scratch myself raw. My neurologist said it's from my neuropathy.

Do you ever feel like ants are crawling under your skin?

Yes, that "creepy-crawly" sensation is a real fibromyalgia symptom that many people experience. Members describe it as feeling like tiny ants crawling over them, or a prickly, mosquito bite-like sensation. This type of itching can pop up suddenly anywhere on the body and can be incredibly frustrating.

About 60 percent of females with fibromyalgia experience chronic itching. The most commonly affected areas include:

* Scalp (62%)
* Back (58.6%)
* Forearms (41.4%)
* Arms, shoulders, and thighs (34-38%)
* Hands, face, neck, and feet (27-31%)

The itching in fibromyalgia appears to have a unique cause separate from pain. Studies show it's closely tied to sleep disturbances and quality of life, but interestingly, it doesn't seem to improve with common fibromyalgia medications like antidepressants.

Since you've been dealing with this for 2 weeks and have allergies, it could be a combination of both fibromyalgia-related itching and allergic reactions. While Benadryl helps with allergies, fibromyalgia itching may need different approaches.

You might find relief through a trial-and-error process combining over-the-counter options, self-care strategies, and home remedies. What works varies from person to person, so patience is important as you figure out what helps you most.
