Are you experiencing periodontal disease alongside fibromyalgia?
While fibromyalgia can affect dental health in various ways, many MyFibroTeam members have shared their experiences with dental problems. Some have reported tooth loss, teeth breaking, and general dental issues that seem connected to their condition or medications.
The connection between fibromyalgia and dental problems can happen for several reasons:
* Dry mouth from medications can increase risk of gum disease
* Chronic pain can make dental hygiene more difficult to maintain
* Some fibromyalgia medications may impact oral health
* The stress and inflammation associated with fibro may affect gum health
A MyFibroTeam member shared their struggles with dental health being one of the worst aspects of their fibromyalgia since childhood. Others have discussed battling dental problems from their medications and experiencing tooth loss or teeth breaking.
If you're dealing with periodontal disease, it's important to work with a dentist who understands chronic pain conditions. Let them know about your fibromyalgia so they can help make dental care more comfortable for you.
