I have been single for a long time due to the fact that I have no idea how to date and explain myself when the right time would be. I also have cerebral stenosis which only allows me to sit in certain ways. How do I explain all of this or should I just stay single which seems to be easier but I know I don't want to die alone either. I'm already 48 years old so it's time past time to find someone to grow old with. I'm just so confused to all of this and all I know is don't know what to do. It's… read more
Curious how things went and how you are doing?
I hope you are feeling some better now. But I’m so sorry you felt so bad you had to cancel. I know how discouraging that can be.
Try not to make any assumptions about what he thinks. But if that is what he thinks then he would be the one making assumptions! 🫠🤷♀️
Maybe if you decide to revisit dating with this person or somebody else down the front you can let them know up front.
Keeping it brief and simple- I have a chronic illness and don’t know when I will feel poorly. This makes making plans and keeping them difficult.
I don’t know if you know this, but they even make dating sites for people with chronic illnesses! Pretty neat.
And if you decide just to focus on you and work that’s more than okay too.

I had to cancel bc woke up and couldn't move without making sounds or having to breathe funny through the pain. Plus I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open. everyday I work on trying to be positive or finding a silver lining but on days like that day that I had to cancel there was no silver lining or I couldn't find one. I'm sure you all know what I mean. So now I think he may think I'm playing games because he's already mentioned that he likes to make a plan and there's no making plans and for sure sticking to them when you have the problems that I have. The best way for me is to play it by ear so I've decided to accept the fact that this may not be for me, the whole dating thing. Maybe it's best with someone I know but the bad thing with that is, during this whole time since my diagnosis I've lost all of my friends because the only energy I have left is devoted to work. I don't know I'm just tired I'm confused and just discouraged
The above has some good information, like being honest with your date about your health conditions.. Do you have meds, supplements , topicals or anything that will help ease your pain during your flare that you could take/use, so you don't have to cancel. Do something that is not strenuous and the best time for you. You deserve to find love, companionship and happiness too. I hope things work out for you
Dating with fibromyalgia requires honesty and self-advocacy. For a first date during a potential flare, consider:
• Choose a comfortable venue where you can sit comfortably
• Keep the date shorter (1-2 hours max)
• Be upfront about needing to sit in certain positions for comfort
• Use "I" statements like "I need to take Show Full Answer
