I went to get my allergy injections today by myself and could feel a panic attack coming on. I couldn’t understand what i needed to do and started to feel light headed from explaining my solituation and signing the paperwork. I got lucky with the woman who answered my questions though. Members connected warmly over the experience of having panic attacks in public while managing fibromyalgia, with many sharing that anxiety and panic are a very real part of living with chronic illness. Several members described their own experiences, including panic attacks during stressful situations like tests, medical appointments, and even when alone at home due to pain. A recurring theme was the importance of self-care after a hard moment, using coping skills in the moment, and leaning on community support and therapy to help manage fear and anxiety.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, thank you, yes, I did. I'm so sorry that you've experienced panic attacks in the past. But that's amazing that you no longer experience them. The feeling of tripping and falling is real! I can so relate to having recurring anxiety and rumination. It sounds like you have to tools when you start to feel it, and that's amazing.

A year ago, I went to a different allergist and had a bad and painful in-person experience with the nurse who gave me the shots. Your words about self-care after the fact are so important. My therapist says that it's important to disrupt the fear by using coping skills in the moment. Not letting the fear take hold helps to show your body that you can get through it and overcome.

I actually even have panic attacks when I’m alone it’s the fibromyalgia pain that causes it with me .

So sorry that happened to you. My daughter gets panic attacks in extreme situations. We both have fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia makes all of us very sensitive in many ways. Hope things calm down for you today. Hugs.
