Some days I have difficulty deciding whether or not I am being lazy, or whether it's the chronic illness. It can be mentally troubling as I live alone and tend to prefer peace and quiet, calm and rest. Sometimes I worry due to guilt feelings knowing there are so many people who suffer worse, much worse than I do, but they are doing so much more. I just think, I am tired, so I just don't feel like doing anything. It's just easier not to push too hard unless it's something I absolutely need… read more

Members overwhelmingly reassured someone questioning whether their limited activity was laziness or fibromyalgia, with the consensus being that chronic fatigue is not laziness but rather a core, exhausting symptom of the condition that affects everyone differently. Several members shared practical strategies including pacing activities, doing what you can in the morning when energy is higher, keeping a daily journal of small goals, practicing self-compassion, and remembering that comparing yourself to others is unhelpful and unfair. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body without guilt, accepting that rest is necessary medicine rather than weakness, and leaning on faith and community support to counter the isolating mental burden of an invisible illness.

Google chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. You’ll see that you’re very normal.

😢 just know you're doing the best you can, on that particular day.
Give yourself credit for getting up. Getting dressed.
Just going out ...
But yes, we miss so much it doesn't seem fair.
Hugs,
Deb 😘

I ask these same questions of myself. I get home and don’t feel like doing anything bc of fatigue. My house is a huge mess and I’m not one of those people who says that when there is a little dust. It is bad. My husband’s pain level is a lot higher than mine so he can’t do much cleaning. He tries though. Money too. I feel the same way. We have to listen to our bodies though. I might work through the pain bc my pain level is tolerable most days, but the fatigue is so overwhelming and difficult to overcome. We need to give ourselves grace. This is something that I am trying to work on. Hope this helps even just a little.

@A MyFibroTeam Member don't compare how much you can do to how much others can do. You do you. This condition affects everyone definitely. You do as much as you can without making yourself ache more. Hope that makes sense. Be kind to yourself. I am slowly learning that. I know it isn't easy but you will get there.
