Members shared their experiences with piercing ear pain, with some describing it as throbbing, stabbing sensations that can radiate to the jaw and lymph nodes, often linked to eustachian tube dysfunction or fibromyalgia rather than ear piercings themselves. Several members mentioned that the pain can appear suddenly, last for days, and then disappear without clear cause, with limited relief from ear drops or antibiotics, though some found temporary comfort using ice, heat, Sudafed, or ibuprofen. A recurring theme was the frustration of doctors being dismissive or unable to offer effective treatments, alongside the comfort of knowing others experience the same unpredictable and agonizing symptoms.

If it’s still throbbing tomorrow, I’m calling the doc!

When that happens to me there is no reason for it. Sometimes lasts a few days. Then disappears as quickly as the symptoms appeared.

I have developed what you describe Debbie. My pain is caused by swallowing or chewing it is not constant. I keep getting given ear drops. Even the anti biotic ones don’t help. What does help this condition. Is it another untreatable chronic one?
