We are all suffering so much, we deserve some happiness. All things in moderation I say.
I do overspend on frivolous things, especially this time of year. Unfortunately credit cards have become too easy so I am getting rid of all of them. I am a senior citizen and don’t need those bills to pay. My new challenge to myself is to find another way to handle the mental aspect of this. My therapist told me to try to do one thing each day that makes me feel like I accomplished something and to try to get out among people. The truth is I don’t enjoy people and become tense around others. Soooooo, maybe we can all find a way to be satisfied with our lives without spending unnecessarily. Accomplishing one thing a day does make me feel better and I am renewing my love of reading.
When my ex husband got a job as a debt counselor, he set up a budget as recommended for us. Being unaccustomed to buying clothes even on sale, I just couldn't spend that amount of money on clothes for myself. Almost 50 years later I buy clothes much more frequently than I did then, and much higher quality, only natural fibres, sustainably sourced. Of course, always on sale, most half price or less.
All those $4 tops at Salvation Army were mine. LOL I have been continuously purging my closet. Especially if I have been looking at Real Estate. We can afford a 1 bed 1 bath @ 500 Square feet. We don't plan to move until next summer so who knows?. Im still purging!
I’ve always like many parents put my children first but now they are earning more money than me as I’m a single parent now and have been for 10years since I split from my long term partner. I buy essentials and food shopping and I’ve learnt I’m a priority now too so I do once a month buy something for myself whether it’s health beneficial or a bit of make up something nice to wear which makes me feel good. I have worked non stop all my adult life providing for others paying a mortgage . As long as the bills are paid and food in the fridge then I’m happy to treat myself it’s been a long time coming 😁
. I don’t get my nails or hair done every month so a special treat whenever makes you appreciate it more. I give to the local food bank when I can and help out people if needed and I’ve always felt the same when I’ve been in that position and appreciated it. ❤️
