Members responded to a question about falling asleep while eating, with several acknowledging they've experienced similar exhaustion, though most haven't dozed off mid-meal. Many community members described practical strategies for managing chronic fatigue around mealtimes, including batch cooking and freezing meals in smaller portions, using a slow cooker to minimize kitchen time and effort, and keeping simple frozen options on hand when energy is too low to prepare food from scratch. A recurring theme was the importance of investigating underlying causes like vitamin D deficiency or sleep apnea, while also recognizing that chronic conditions like fibromyalgia and insomnia create daily challenges that require creative solutions and self-compassion.

If you ever feel like cooking something at home that you're wanting. Try a crackpot. You can purchase cooking bags to line the pot. Makes cleaning up much easier. And you don't have to stand over it cooking. Cooks slower but much easier. I like the lid that clamps on both sides. Keeps the heat & the food smells down. Just an idea if the desire hits you. My grandmother was blind from MD & she enjoyed cooking with her crackpot.

I've found, that cooking a big batch of food then freezing it in smaller containers works the best for my household. Take a day or night out depending on how much energy l have. Always do dishes during & after. Push myself to complete it & it works out great. Not cooking everyday helps tremendously. Cuts my grocery bill down as well. Kitchen stays cleaner too. Less daily kitchen work so l can appreciate the other things l need or want to do. Give yourself choices of different meals stacked in the freezer as well.
Also, I happen to cook with diffetent meats from the butcher. The grocery store meats are not as good quality. Get to know your butcher. They can direct you to better meats, cuts. And is also less expensive than the grocery store too.

I used to before we realized that I was low in Vitamin D. It was really bad in the winter due to SAD. I'm better now.

I haven't fallen asleep while eating but have come close a few times. Most of the time I am so tired that I have to make myself eat something but after I am done eating, I am ready for a nap.
