Members opened up about living with PTSD alongside fibromyalgia, sharing how past traumas from domestic violence, workplace loss, and medical mistreatment have created cycles of hypervigilance, rage, and difficulty trusting others. Several members described coping strategies that have helped them manage these feelings, including therapy (especially EMDR), limiting social circles to only trusted people, setting firm boundaries by not making promises, using calming techniques like essential oils and phone games, and taking breaks from endless medical appointments to preserve mental and emotional energy. A recurring theme was the deep grief of losing former lives and capabilities, the challenge of helping others understand invisible pain, and the importance of finding small moments of peace while navigating permanent changes with compassion for oneself.

Yes I have ptsd when I go in commercial buildings or see building construction workers working because I use to work huge commercial building construction as a union carpenter , hurts me just just thinking about it it’s me worse when I see others doing it . Ugh 😩 I want to do those things but can’t , I can’t even hardly lift a spoon 🥄 at times now .

Harlow, thank you for your thoughtful answer. That’s awesome that therapy has been helpful to you. I’m not sure what insurances they require or whether you have to be in the same state but Joy Austin at Lifestance Health does online and in person, with EMDR. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were others who work in this company who are closer to you.
