I want to travel and I just have enough concerns in my regular life. If I can do one major activity, like going outside, for about 3 hours, I can handle it. But the next day I pay. Does seems futile to travel, to not be able to do things..... But, Can people ever travel overseas or far distances on planes, trains, etc.? Please let me know. It is about 10 hours in all. Thank you.
Some things I've learned about traveling.
1) If it is at all possible financially and otherwise fly business class. I find with my fibromyalgia it pays to have the extra room instead of being crammed between people. If not, aisle seat is a must! Nonnegotiable. Have assistance meet you to help you on and off the plane. Swallow your pride. You want to enjoy this trip don't you?
2) if you are going somewhere where spa treatments are available, book massage, sit in hot tub or book any other services that will relax you and take away some of the physical stress of traveling, before you leave, for the first day you are there. This is going to be a recovery day from travel.
3) Keep meds. On plane with you. You may need them during flight. If medical marijuana, check regulations at destination and with plane company.
4) Add recovery days to the beginning of your trip. Do not just jump into vacation activities.
I refuse to give up on travel. I have been to Panama and Costa Rica as well as having flown to other states. I also have my own pop up and, even though I have friends that tell me I have no business camping, I refuse to give it up. I love being in nature and being with my dog buddies on camping trips.
I believe I am a Fibromyalgia Warrior and I refuse to give up on everything that brings me joy in this life. If I do that, what is the point of this life? I've already been forced to give up on so much because of the Fibromyalgia.
Thanks so much. Yes, saved air miles for business class, good idea about spa day after travelling. I know I will need rest days, for sure. You have some brilliant ideas.
Everyone is different. I have trabeled to Egypt, British Aisles, many states in the Us and probably about 30 cruises. I dont have it as bad as others. It depends on how bad it is. I use my tools and take it one day at a time.
We travel regularly both plane and driving holidays. Just remember to pace yourself on holidays just as you would if you were home.
It's definitely worth it.
You might consider coach tours near your home. One time Allen had a conference in Vancouver, where I was born and lived for the first 30 years of my life. Transit was on strike and I had some shopping I wanted to do for my textile art. I took a tour that had get on and off privileges and learned so many new things about my home town. Had a great time and got to all the places that I needed to shop.
