I slept 12 hours pretty steady last nite. I had no pain this morning. Is it bad to sleep so much or just a Fibro fatigue symptom?

Members shared their varied experiences with sleep and fibromyalgia, with many noting that finding the right amount of sleep is highly individual, often falling somewhere between 5 and 9 hours to minimize both pain and fatigue. Several members described how oversleeping can lead to exhaustion or increased aches, while others shared that catching up on sleep after a restless night or sleeping longer every few days helps manage fibro fog and pain flares. A recurring theme was listening to your body's signals, pacing yourself carefully, and avoiding naps if they interfere with nighttime rest, as poor sleep can trigger a return of pain.

Sleep is good, it is a healer. I sleep at least 12 hours every 4th day - this helps a little with the pain & wards off fibro fog. Learn to pace yourself. xx

I find I overslept the day or two after being up half the night etc.🩷🌸

No matter how much you want to, no napping. You won't be able to sleep tonight and pain will return big time.

Your body was telling you it needed rest and glad you woke up with no pain

Yes, sleep hours are a Goldilocks phenomenon. You have to find the"just right" sweet spot and we're all different in that regard. I do notice more aches from over sleeping and more fatigue/fog from under sleeping. Somewhere in the 7-9 HR period should be ideal.
