MRI With Contrast
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone ♥️ I have an mri scheduled for this Monday, December 4th for my shoulder with contrast dye. I’ve never had the dye before. Is there anyone who has that can tell me their story? Thank you

All the above, but after many of these types of scans, here's your girlfriends guide/tip: you may also get a sudden rush in your private areas that can feel a bit like an orgasm or feel like you have to pee. It will pass within about 30 secends. Don't panic, ok?
I have chronic migraines too and sometimes it will give me a good headache later. If you're the same, take a bit of your preventative meds ahead of time. You'll do great.

Depending on the dye they use you might need kidney function blood test before hand. Also, might need to drink plenty of water afterwards. They put in an IV so they can inject the dye when they need to. I had no reaction to the dye (gadolinium) I believe. The mri is painless but could be noisy. Ask the technician to announce what’s happening, how long it is going to take as it could take several rounds of imaging. No worries.

Last time I had contrast dye was for a PET/CT scan a few months back. They told me after the scan that I had to stay away from children and animals for four hours because the dye was radioactive.

With contrast means injecting this dye so they can see better. The dye did not affect me but they say it is hard on your kidneys. I’ve heard of people getting sick from it too. Hope all goes well. Good luck and big hug💕💕
