Gluten-free?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Do y’all know anything about being gluten-free, to help fibro inflammation? And if so, any good foods?

Good question, my brother has a different disease, but inflammation is a big part of it. The specialty doctor, put him not only medication and a diet. Gluten-free is part of that diet, plus sugar, among other things.

So many gluten-free foods in supermarkets and available online. The safest way is to shop the outside of the supermarket as the fruit and vegetable aisles have so many anti inflammatory foods.

I include multigrain breads and sometimes switch to sourdough for stomach issues. Gluten free doesn’t change my symptoms. What works for some may be different for others unfortunately.

Because I'm allergic to almonds I have to scrutinize ingredients. Fortunately almond products are very expensive and alternative products are used instead generally,

I've gone gluten free for about six years. Most of the bread, bakery and crust substitutes are made of eggs, almond meal, parmesean cheese or cauliflower. So if you don't have allergies to those it's fairly easy to get onboard. Going gluten free really helped with belly bloat from IBS, but one cheat can set you back 30 days, till it clears your system. The best foods are the ones that are made from scratch and there are plenty of good online recipies. I wish I could say I never miss wheat gluten products, but I can't. Occasionally I cheat and have some sour dough bread and crab, but that seems to be a San Francisco tradition.
