I have a dog that should really be walked daily. The problem is that when I wake up in the morning, I am in so much pain, and I have so much fatigue that for at least an hour, often two or three, I just don’t feel up to walking my dog. By the time I finally do feel up to it, it is too hot outside (I live in Texas). It doesn’t cool down until very late. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do about it? No no no! The dog is fine inside in weather. I used 2 tell my beagle Max quick pee Max quick pee and he'd tinkle b 4 bed. And when ex who insisted I walk him left I just let him out and he would go #2 no problem. He understood!!!
So no guilt, sweetie 😘
I'm in British Columbia, Canada, so maybe no help. Here there's a volunteer agency for walking dogs. A neighbour recently had 2 heart surgeries and is using this service. Here the library has information about volunteer services. Try contacting your local library.
I just found this site last night and I am so glad I did. Isolation is a real thing with many of us.
I have 3 Labs and am a volunteer/foster to one of them. I too feel so guilty as well. I can't walk any of them. Heat is a factor in Florida too. I have a big yard and throw the ball for them it seems to work ok and it is all I can do.
Oh it's so nice to hear someone else feels guilty because they are not able to exercise their dog as much as they need or want to be. I'm lucky because she goes in the yard by herself to pee and stuff, but she needs to be walked not only for health benefits, but also to give her a break from boredom.
