Does anyone have any tips for calf muscles that are so tight that you can barely walk? I've been using low-level laser, a massage gun and have been taking magnesium baths. I went for a walk the other day that involved a lot of stairs and parts were quite steep- i think i tensed my legs to help with my balance. I am still quite active with exercise so am surprised this happened.

Any tips or tricks to help with this would be much appreciated

Members rallied around someone struggling with severely tight calf muscles after a steep walk, sharing the frustration of this common fibromyalgia symptom while offering a wealth of practical relief strategies. Several members recommended topical magnesium gel or lotion applied nightly, Epsom salt baths, compression sleeves, gentle stretching exercises, moist heat pads, and Arnicare cream, with many emphasizing the importance of staying hydrated and keeping the muscles warm before massage or stretching. A recurring theme was the need to keep moving despite the pain, advocate for oneself with doctors to rule out other conditions, and experiment with different approaches since what works varies widely from person to person.

I'm sorry to read you have this. I do too. The only thing that helps apart from a massge (which I can't afford atm) is when on a bed, I get some massage warm oil or lotion ( magnesium cream or lotion is good) (can put some near a radiator to warm up first) and with my opposite foot using my inside heel or at the big toe side of my foot go up and down my other calf muscle as I am able. This sometimes really helps. The key is to get your calves warm first (I use a warm hot water bottle or heated blanket) . Even just a few movements down can start the release. Hope it helps and if not I hope you find the answers that are right for you

My husband literally pounds on my calves. I do stretches for them also. My calves have hurt since I was 6 years old. I'm 68.

I've had good luck with calf compression sleeves and topical magnesium foam.

Hey, yes this has happened to me. It's awful but you need to keep moving. Magnesium lotion every night before bed and after a shower. Stay hydrated
