I've had fybro since 2014. I'm finding I get more flare ups especially with weather season changes and severe stress situations. More weather than stress.

Members overwhelmingly agreed that fibromyalgia tends to worsen over time, despite some doctors suggesting otherwise, with many describing an increase in the number of body parts affected, the severity of pain, and additional symptoms like burning skin. Several members shared how the progression has dramatically altered their lives, from leaving full-time careers and going on disability to losing the ability to drive or stand for long periods, with one member poignantly noting they miss their old self. A recurring theme was that weather changes and stress remain significant triggers for flares, though many found solace in improved attitudes, gratitude for small victories, and the validation of a community that truly understands their experience.

My experience is “yes”. When I was diagnosed in 2000, I had mild to moderate pain and symptoms. In 2022, i have more symptoms, like burning skin and pain in private places. My pain is now rating moderate to severe. I have gone from working full time to disability. I no longer can drive a vehicle. I used to work in a medical/surgical/neurological ICU to where I have difficulty standing and walking. I do have to say my attitude toward fibro is better than what it was. I don’t do neither the complaining and feeling sorry for myself. The grass may have some brown patches but it is definitely greener where I am.

I have had Fibro and other health issues for over 26 years and I feel it has gotten much worse. Of course getting older does not help. I miss my old self.

Yes, even tho doctors say no. It seems everyone I’ve heard about agrees it gets worse over time. For me, the number of parts of my body that hurt have increased even tho the levels of pain can vary from day to day. Weather and air pressure definitely impact me but stress is the worst.
