Is Fibromyalgia Hereditary?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am a fibromyalgia sufferer and have been for 20+ years. My daughter who is 40 is being treated as having a mental illness but nothing specific has been suggested. However I see her suffering with pain and tiredness just as I do
I know it's possible that the dr hasn't seen the symptoms that I am seeing and I know I could be literally barking up the wrong tree
Is it possible for Fibromyalgia to be hereditary?
I remember as a child watching my mum suffer from what was labeled depression but… read more

Have they had everything else counted out from being something else ie ME/ Lymes / lupus / & many more if so then it’s probably Fibro as anova suffer will spot the signs straight off ,
It’s long covid we’ll that’s defo Fibromyalgia so have they had covid ?
I’m not 100 % sure but my mum used to suffer & I’ve been told when I was born she was going trough a bad spell & I’ve suffered from Depression for years & could never pinpoint why so you could be right ?
Can you count out all the triggers of fibromyalgia ?
There’s normally a starting point of fibromyalgia find the cause then find the help ,
I think with most it’s the straw on the camels back type of thing or trauma bad time in life an accident or a very bad bug can cause it ,
My mum was like me fight not flight but at times we both couldn’t fight anything we went the other way flight in pain with no energy all different type of pain & stiffness ,& many more I get fibro fog very bad & often but I’ve got other conditions as well and they amplify each over which I’ve been saying for years to my GP & Specialists in my other conditions & now they all agree so they can get it wrong believe me ,
Always try to have your diagnoses on a bad day not good cos the pressure points don’t flare up as bad . I hope this helps cos the more we share the more we learn about the condition from Hell . Jb x

I believe it is, I've had several doctors tell me they believe it can be.
For example, my maternal Gma had multiple sclerosis, then my mother had lupus, now I have fibro. With each generation it lessens. Ive also been diagnosed with same mental illness as my mother too

Yes I have 11 children and four of them have been diagnosed with it. My heart breaks for them , but no one has it as badly as I do so far, thank God!
