I didn't receive the vaccine for the same reasons you listed. I then got Covid last December. I was very, very sick, pneumonia and received the antibodies. It took me out from December 8th to January 10th. I then started with multiple Long Term Covid issues. My pulmonologist stated that she believes that the body is overreacting and trying to continue to fight the virus. She states there is a study showing that getting the vaccine helped people get over long term Covid. She suggested I take the vaccine to give my body's immune system something to fight against. I have taken the first shot. I reacted to it in extreme fashion. Temperature started within 1.5 hours of the shot, rising to 103.2. My arm swelled up 4x3" with a hard, hot knot. I had a major flare up with all my fibro issues. It felt like COVID all over again. It lasted 5 solid days before starting to ease off. My episodes post COVID have lessened to some degree. So, I am hopeful it is going to work for me. I am to receive my 2nd shot end of the month. I am worried I will have a flare up again, maybe I won't since the first one was so bad. But if it eliminates my post long term COVID issues it will be worth it. I didn't need any more physical issues then I had before. I am just trying to get back to base line (pre Covid) for my fibromyalgia and other health issues.
I got them asap, getting my last booster tom,both my daughters who have fibromyalgia also have. They both work in healthcare as did I,when you see it up close or personal like I did,got my love of my life,lol,to hospital said if I had waited a few more hours would've probably needed a vent,he didn't seem any more sick(he was very sick for a WK) but I noticed him acting a little off,bought a O2 monitor it was 85, off we went to the ED!
I have had the first two shots and one booster.. I have not had Covid, yet. There has been talk about a 4th booster. I am holding off until the fall, if possible. They are working on a better vaccine and that is the one I want.
I have Immune Defiency. And my Immunologist is adamant for me to get all of my shots . I’ve had covid, which was horrible for me. I’ve had all the covid shots. Felt with them for several days. I think it’s a decision you need to make with your doctor. Good luck💗
@A MyFibroTeam Member ... I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the fall booster as well. I received all 4 so far. Like you, I've been fortunate to have avoided covid. 🤞 I didn't think I would need the 4th because it's not as specific for the variants but my doctor thought that with my fibro and prediabetes that it was proven better protection than going without and he took into account people removing masks and the reduction of social distancing in our town. Continue to be careful.
