Tender Points Along Ribs?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have several tender points along my ribs on both sides of my body. Even though I have had costochronditis for years, I don’t remember having tender points at this location.. has anyone ever heard of this?

I have those from time. When I used to go to chiropractor she would adjust the areas. My ribs were out of alignment. I’m having it right now. Some how I hurt my back a few weeks ago, and then this started.💗

No. Never heard of tender points in the chest. I have pain on the right side of my chest anywhere from clavicle to last rib. I also get pain in sternum area. It feels like; What might a heart attack feels like. This pain is scary. Is it possible this darn FM is evolving. When I was working, I spent 10 years in Rheumatolgy. We saw patients with 18 specific points. Costochondritis did not exist. This was 1992- 2003. Here is an article talking about these 18 specific sites that all patients experienced pain. This was a hard job. Emotional job too. I had to take the calls from patients that just needed someone to listen to them. As I got FM working here. I had empathy for these people, something my doctor could not provide for our patients. It was quite wearing, and extened my work days. I stayed to get my work done. Then, 1.5 hours to 2 hours drive going home. Spend 3 hours or more on the road killed my neck, hands, arms and hips. I finally told the doctor, my boss, I just can't do this anymore. He asked me to take a vacation of three weeks to rest. He wanted me to stay. I loved working for him even though it was the hardest job I had ever had. After vacation I told him it did not help. He was upset. He had an employee that knew her job well. And every job in the office. I knew him so well that I knew his mood on Monday, how to bring him out if it. We often had lunch together to decompress. Musso and Frank's was his favorite restaurant on Hollywood Blvd. I met so many celebrity's at restaurants and walking around town. The guy that did my hair was hair dresser to many celebs. One day Loren Michael was there to see Edward too. He told me to go ahead if him. He sat in a chair talking about the SNL show. LA was quite different than Orange County, where I lived. I have good memories of meeting actors and talking to them was so easy. They are just people like you and me. Those memories will last forever. Tony Curtis, Whoopi Goldberg, Barry Manillow, Carl Reiner, Dick Van Dyke,, Billy Idol, Lou Diamond Phillips, well, too many to list. Seems like another lifetime.
Gosh I just spent the last half hour in memory lane.
I pray everyone has a beautiful day. Low pain, and kindness from strangers, to put a smile on your face.

I started going to this new pain management office and they have everything but when I saw their chiropractor, he went right for my trigger points on my hips. I had told him not to!
I don't know if my ribs are out of line but it would make sense given the pain I get.
