Members rallied around someone struggling with painful muscle spasms and knots in their neck and back, offering both medical and non-medical strategies they've personally found helpful. Several members shared medications that provided relief, including diazepam, baclofen, Lyrica, cyclobenzaprine, and muscle relaxers, while others suggested complementary approaches like magnesium and calcium supplements, kava kava, acupuncture, trigger point injections, heat therapy, and gentle massage with a therapist experienced in fibromyalgia. A recurring theme was the importance of not waiting in pain when help is available, advocating for yourself with doctors even when they resist suggestions, and ensuring that multiple specialists communicate and work together on a coordinated treatment plan.

If you get a massage, make sure they know how to massage people with fibromyalgia. If they go too deep, you will flare up big time.

For spasms I used magnesium/calcium and kava kava. I also get massage once a month. I don't use medication, I also take vitamins to calm the nerves in my body. It is something you can look into if you want to try it.

At this point, the neuro may offer input but make sure he and your gp work TOGETHER on s plan. I see too many docs not working together on a plan for one patient, kinda like the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. Cross communication is key.
