Feeling Of Pressure
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with fibro and consequently costochronditus since 2013. But
for the last couple of years I get this awful feeling of pressure on my chest that reaches up to my throat and around my back. It's not painful but very uncomfortable. If I press the bones inbetween and around my breasts it feels extremely sore. I've had my heart checked and it's ok but I have overwhelming anxiety that I have lung cancer. They have not been checked. I smoke 2-3 small rollies a day. So not a lot but yes… read more

Dear Sooz....ok this isn't an answer to your question, more of an input re your anxiety.....first I would like to urge you to get your lungs checked, not that I think you have a problem, but for your peace of mind....now I'm a 2 times cancer survivor, most know of my breast cancer, but not many of my skin cancer.....I was diagnosed with fibro several years after breast cancer, initially I and my doctor feared my fibro pain was maybe bone cancer, I underwent scans blood tests etc....I urge you as a fellow fibro warrior to try damn hard not to always fear the worst, of course it's easy to do so, but by doing so, you are missing out so much of life!....I'm waiting on test results now, I'm a little scared, but I believe all will be well, it's about getting into the right mindset.....life is a precious gift, pls live it....🙏💜

Doctor told me I get Muscular skeletal pain in that area. And you can also have both at the same time. Take Magnesium Malate, helps a lot. Don’t lift things like groceries or push pull furniture etc. See a Pulmonologist to be sure. And maybe give up smoking, causes inflammation at the least🦋

Yes I get what your describing but I also suffer from sleep apnea as well as FM I also have an Hiatus hernia so check you haven’t got an Hiatus hernia or starting of one ,
Mines like a dull ache like someone sitting on my chest & I start to panic ,
Then it brings on indigestion but not all the time ,
How you can normally tell if it’s an hernia lay down flat on your back lift your head to your chest & see if you have a lump come up in between your breast plate if so you have an Hiatus hernia ,
I also smoke Roll ups & only a few a day I use menthol tips & it helps but I’m not telling people to obviously start smoking lol
I’m not sure tho if the uncomfortableness is my hernia or my fibromyalgia but stress causes pain in FM so try to deflect your thoughts away from it being something worse,
I’ve had this constant discussion with my GP how does someone with fibromyalgia know when there is something really wrong with em cause we go through so many different pains in a day or week I would know if I’m having heart attack or got anything else wrong with me as we are in pain daily so what might seem wrong to others to us it’s normal & just anova pain lol
So check the hernia first & if not make sure it’s not something your eating causing it ,
It sounds funny but if your eating food that can bring a flare up on it can cause all sorts of problems recognising the cause can then spot your symptoms to the cause ,
We all are different but some of us have the same symptoms so sharing helps others to learn how to cope or to just simply realise we are not going mad if the feelings there it’s there for a reason be it FM or something else .
Stay safe jb

Hi! Yes I do too...I am actually going to a cardiac specialist on Tuesday. I have recently had that feeling and also lots of tingling and pain down my left arm and shoulder. I have tried so many things and being concerned that it is my heart I went for an ECG and a sonar and I have a leaky valve as well as an aterial Septal defect. Holding thumbs that nothing serious needs to be done but there is this fear that I will need surgery.
