Anyone Taken Nortriptyline?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was given nortriptyline last week by a new doctor. I seem to have bad reactions to most meds. I was wondering if anyone has taken this drug recently? I’m afraid to try it . She thinks it will help with the pain. I have my doubts. Any comments would help.
Thanks Donna

For me, sam-e (over the counter supplement) has been a life changer. Maybe it's worth trying before taking more pharmaceuticals. Wishing you the best!

I have been on nortryptiline for about 2 years. Not for my fibro but for stomach issues. It has never bothered me with any side effects.

Chblackm , thanks so much for the information. I agree with your pharmacist, and I hate the thought of tapering off any medication. We are already in so much pain, don’t want to add more! I have tried CBD and it does help. I have also tried a cbd tincture with a small amount of thc ( I’m in California, it’s legal here). The brand is called Papa and Barkley. It helps, but like many things I have tried with fibromyalgia., sometimes it works great and other times it doesn’t help at all. They do have a product called relief balm that is very good for muscle pain.

I will check out the Ubiquinol. Also sorry it took me a few days to get back to you, I’m a mom and caregiver for my adult son with cerebral palsy. Because of the pandemic he no longer has a day program and we can’t allow people to come into our house until the numbers are improved. He has need a little more of my time the last few days,.
Thanks again for the help

Donnato, it is so hard finding a medication that works and doesn’t have side effects. I’m sensitive to meds, too. My pharmacist told me that any medication that affects the central nervous system we have to wean off of. Have you tried high potency CBD oil? This worked well for me for a couple of years. Also if you can take tylenol, this can help. I take it 3 times a day and it helps my pain meds work better. I also take a supplement called Ubiquinol. It is an amino acid that is normally present in the body but can be low in those of us with fibro. It helps me with both pain and energy.. hope this helps.❤️
