Members responded to a question about abnormal bone density scan results by sharing their own diagnoses, which ranged from osteopenia to osteoporosis in various areas including hips, spine, and femur, with many noting concerns about medication side effects. Several members offered practical alternatives to prescription medications, including high-dose vitamin D, calcium, Biosil drops, Bone Up, and strontium supplements, with one member reporting improvement from osteoporosis to osteopenia using supplements alone. A recurring theme was the fear and frustration of waiting for test results, the challenge of balancing necessary treatment with side effect risks, and the hereditary nature of bone density issues, especially in those with early menopause or family history.

Yes. I’ve broken over six bones and had bad osteoporosis and my dr wanted me to start rx but my mom ended up in the hospital from rx and side effects are bad. My holistic dr said to start Bone Up and Strontium supplements and high dose D and my last scan was only osteopenia. My dr couldn’t believe it. It also helped my deep bone pain. You can get these on amazon and look at the reviews. 🤗

It’s good you’ve had the scan. I had it in my fourties. Diagnosis was Osteopenia. Unfortunately I ignored deals no with it. Diagnosis with Osteoporosis a few years ago. Very upset at first. But it’s not that serious really. I just take the Fossamax pill once a week. I’ve been doing great and my bone density has improved greatly since on fossamax. 🤗🤗🤗

Hi Kerrie-
Yes I had one last year. My results came out as osteoporosis in hips and osteopenia spine and femur. My rheumy said I need to start a medication and recommended a Reclast infusion. I read a lot about it and decided against it as side effects too risky. I take Vit D, and make sure I get plenty of calcium. I also take Biosil drops which you can get on Amazon. I know eventually I will have to try one of those osteo meds, but I can't deal with any more pain from side effects right now.
