Muscle Spasm
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Are muscle spasms common in fibro? Like where the muscle tenses up and locks in? Anyone ever have spasms in the face? I am having spasms in my cheeks today. They started in my neck and then wrapped around to both my cheeks.

I have spasms but not in the neck or face and so far, though they have been severe, they have never locked in. I may have had very mild face spasms years ago that affected my left eye and left check and didn’t know it. I brushed them off as twitches. Now I’m thinking it could have been the beginning of fibromyalgia.

Very common. Often caused by a lack of magnesium

Yes. Major player in fibro. I suffer horribly from them including my face. I take muscle relaxers to help but nothing gets my knots out. I have done dry needling. Trigger point injections. Stretching massage. You name it but the knots remain. Gentle hugs

A very common symptom. I haven't had them in the face before, i tend to have them in my feet every day and occasionally in my lower back. Maybe try some stretches for your neck?
