Lately I have developed this trouble swallowing. It's like food doesn't want to go down once I swallow it, and I have to drink extra water in order to coax it down. Anyone else with this trouble?

Members connected over the shared experience of trouble swallowing linked to fibromyalgia, with many expressing relief knowing they were not alone in dealing with this symptom. Several members shared helpful suggestions, including getting thyroid levels and GERD checked by a doctor, noting that acid reflux is also common with fibromyalgia and can contribute to swallowing difficulty. A recurring theme was that fibromyalgia seems to affect muscles throughout the entire body, including the throat, and that speaking with a doctor is an important first step.

Hi! Get your thyroid checked out there is a condition called nodular thyroid. Not swallowing properly. I have underactive thyroid and asthma. A feeling someone is trying to chock you. When this happens lat still slow down heart rate and think of something beautiful till it passes. Xxx

Yes, but I also have gastric reflux and it can get so bad that it causes trouble swallowing/ dysphagia and dysphasia. I get really hoarse with a sore throat and from what I’ve read Fibromyalgia can be a reason for reflux also. Fibromyalgia seems to affect every muscle in my body, so maybe it could be affecting your throat muscles also??? Just saying 😊
