Does Anyone Besides Me Find The “ Six Stages Of Fibromyalgia” Very Depressing?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

We were all told that fibromyagia was not progressive.
Yet, I kept getting worse. My pain increased, my symptoms increased, my immobility increased.
Now that I have read the six stages of fibromyalgia, I feel stunned. It implies that we will all get worse overtime. Does that mean all the research, pills and hopeful remedies were all in vain? I might have slowed it down, but i ended up in the same place, stage 6.
Disheartening. I am holding on to the hope that Western medicine will learn more.

The Doctors are absolutely wrong regarding that Fibromyalgia doesn't get progressively worse over the years.

I have had Fibromyalgia for ten years now, the pain is constant somedays you cannot walk properly, my back never stops aching and my joints.
When you have a Flare, you are in excruciating pain.

These Doctors don't know enough about Fibromyalgia and it certainly isn't in my head it is a progressive illness.

Wish they would study it more for better pain medication, because we deserve to live with no pain.

Update on the six stages of fibromyalgia.
I talked to my wonderful primary care doctor who is an expert on pain management and fibromyalgia.
He disputes the theroy of six stages.
He has watched patients for decades dealing with fibromyalgia.
Some got worse with time, some leveled off, and many improved. What he found as a common denominator with his improved patients was movement and creativity.
Interesting it wasn’t a medication or treatment plan. It gave me hope!

@A MyFibroTeam Member only a suggestion. Have you done a pain diary. Just mark down when you are in pain. And try to find out if you had just the done the dishes before that or Etc. I did a pain diary and found patterns. Like I have to rest at 10am and 2pm and 6 pm. I have about 8 minutes of energy to a task and I have to rest after. This is only a suggestion. Thinking of you at this time.
