I was on SSD for one year. Which I was told I had to wait before I got the medical. When I called SSD to get it The lady told me I would get something in the mail. What I got was papers stating I now got SSI. Each month I had to call them with the income my husband made. Depending on that # depends if I get any money. Most months it's nothing. And I still don't get any medical. Which makes it in possible for me to get a doctor. Can someone tell me how to get the SSD back and medical, so I can… read more
Hmm don’t know why. My husbands income didn’t matter with mine. Have you worked before? Usually you get ssd for three years then re evaluate? You have to go the doctor every three months and stay on meds they prescribe. If you don’t keep up with doc appointments maybe the doc informed ssd? Hope you figure it out. You should definitely call a lawyer.
I don’t understand how you could get SSD for a year and then have it taken away. Sometimes after 3 years of collecting SSD they will review your file to see if you still qualify for SSD. When collecting SSD it doesn’t matter how much money your husband makes, when collecting SSI (which is not the same as SSD) it does matter how much money your husband makes. Do you have enough work credits to collect SSD, Did you go to court for your disability?
SSD = Social Security Disability Insurance pays benefits to you if you are "insured," meaning that you worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes
SSI = Supplemental Security Income pays benefits based on financial need.
