My entire back from my shoulders, to my ribs, to my lower back has been in spasm and is so tight. Bones grinding and popping all over in my shoulders, knees, chest, ribs, elbows. Does anyone have tips or can relate? It started on my left and a few days later also migrated to my right. I’ve been taking hot baths and stretching and used my back massager but not much has helped.

Members strongly related to the question about widespread back spasms and tightness, with many identifying costochondritis as a likely culprit and sharing that the pain often worsens when lying down or staying still. Several members found relief through a combination of approaches including topical treatments like diclofenac gel, Biofreeze, or muscle rubs, Epsom salt baths, daily turmeric supplements for inflammation, gentle walking followed by stretching or yoga, and heat therapy. A recurring theme was that managing this pain requires patience, learning what works for your own body, staying mindful of movements that trigger flares, and finding even temporary relief wherever possible.

Claire💗, My Costochondritis is pretty bad yesterday and today. It was starting to ease up and came back with a vengeance. I did nothing to aggravate it. I can’t take meds, I’m so allergic to soo many, but I can take Tylenol. I don’t like too, but I’ll take 1/2, with heating pad and Biofreeze. It’s temporary relief, but it helps. Muscles under the ribs, front or back, or both, get inflamed. I’ve taken Tumeric supplement daily for some time now, and it helps a lot for inflammation! It would be worse without it. When I’m sitting, I have to have soft pillow behind me, and that even hurts sometimes. Costo aggravates the Fibro and visa versa😖. For me, it comes and goes, sometimes with a long period in between. Not lately though. I have to always be aware of lifting, pushing, pulling etc etc. I wish had more info that could help, but I haven’t found much that works. It’s a process of being careful what you do and knowing what helps your own body, and waiting. Some people have it more constant than I do. But mine has become more, than it used to be. I hope you find something that helps you and you can get some relief, if even temporary, every little bit helps. Sending you healing hugs with love🦋💜🦋, Love Deb

Jessica🦋, Yes the sternum can hurt too. And yes there’s tightness, and it’s very sensitive to touch. Everyone’s degree of it is a little different. I always suggest to look up Costochondritis and also check with Dr, because not everything is Fibro related. I never had it prior to having Fibro. It’s painful and have to try and find what works for you. I hope you get some relief, I understand how difficult that is. Sending you healing hugs🦋💜🦋, Love Deb

Sorry to hear about your pain. I get pain when I lay in one position for too long, and everything tightens up. I find hot baths help a bit, but I also use a chiropractic foam device to lay on before bed to help relieve some of the tightness and use topical muscle creams like A535 to calm the areas where I know I usually get the pain worst at night. I also use the cream on my chest/ribs for my costochondritis pain. Hope you feel better and find some relief~
