Tension Headache

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
East Greenville, PA

I've been having daily tension headaches for the past two weeks. Lots of pressure in the back of my head and neck with some pain in my temples and around my eye. Anyone know of any remedies for this? Thanks in advance 😇

Members shared practical strategies for managing persistent tension headaches, with many finding relief through a combination of approaches including ice packs on the neck and face, heat from hot showers, essential oils like lavender and peppermint, staying hydrated, and gentle stretching or massage. Several members noted their headaches stem from tight neck and shoulder muscles or TMJ issues, with some finding success through medical interventions like Botox injections, trigger point injections, or prescribed medications such as Toradol, while others rely on over-the-counter options like ibuprofen or paracetamol. A recurring theme was the importance of addressing tension early, incorporating daily stress-relief practices like guided meditation or walking, and advocating for proper medical evaluation when headaches persist.

I don’t know about your headache, but I can help relieve the tightness and tension in your neck and probably your shoulders, which should help ease the tension headaches hopefully.

I get these, too, and I think in my case it's related to my TMJ and incredibly tight neck muscles.I go for medical botox in my neck and jaw (masseters), and also TPI injections, and those seem to help take the edgy off and lessen the headaches, as a result.

Drink lots of water especially when you first wake up. Coffee can be helpful too.
Lavender essential oil is helpful when rubbed on your temples.
Hope you feel better soon.

I completely understand! I have been feeling the same way. My Dr prescribed me torodol which has helped with the headaches in the lower back of my head. I'll be having an mri done because she thinks the head and neck pain is from a dick issue

Most of my pain is in my neck and travels up the back of my head. My doctor refused to prescribe anything... I just take paracetamol which helps a little. But I find after a walk it seems to ease off strange as that may seem
