Yes, Painful Pam, my chiropractor is a doctor although she doesn't practice medicine because she says that she can help people feel better through chiro than through medicine. Medicine doesn't cure the problem usually. She says that chiro helps to alleviate the underlying problems of a disconnection between the brain and the spine. She does much better in explaining how it works. I will have to remember to get a brochure on the technique, and I will share what it says. The brochure will explain how it works much better than me. Take care. Stay well.
So sorry you’re going through that! The thing that has helped me the most with sleep is actually when I started taking liquid prenatal vitamins (Buried Treasure brand). Something that’s in there helps me sleep and maybe because it’s in liquid form, it helps more? Not sure. I also like to find comfort from my friends with newborn babies. They totally understand sleep deprivation and can bring you some great moral support when you’re struggling. I know you may need something stronger to help with pain, but just throwing that out there as another avenue to look for support and ideas.
Diclofenac drops rubbed into skin. Works long enough to fall asleep for awhile. I take a PRN Zytram (long acting Tramadol) when it gets super bad. Here in Canada, my doctors don’t believe in “demonizing” opiates. If you need it then you need it.
I take gabapentin for the pain of my restless leg syndrome at night, and topical magnesium can work wonders for cramps. Sometimes it will stop my leg cramps within a minute of applying it. You can also try magnesium supplements too, but I've read that topical magnesium gets absorbed better.
Amitriptyline was the first drug I was on after the doctor told me I had fibro. I was on it for years, but I started taking anxiety attacks. I got off that and was not taking anything for quite awhile until I started taking gabapentin for restless leg syndrome. I found accupuncture really helped. Unfortunately, the guy I used to see has moved to the Annapolis Valley. It's not that far, but I don't want to have to go there once a week especially when we eventually go back to work. I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I go see a doctor who is also a chiropractor. She uses a technique called the Koran Specfic Technique. It is probably spelled wrong. She rarely cracks things. I think she has only done it twice in all the time I have gone to see her. Of course, things are starting to hurt because I can't see her until after things start opening up again. Carpal tunnel is starting to act up.
