Muscle Twitches And EMG
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone here had an EMG because of muscle twitches. I get them every so often in my thumbs/ fingers ( I think when I’m anxious) But they’re not a often. In March I’m scheduled for an EMG nerve test and I’m not really sure if it’s necessary. Theses twitches started 1 year ago when I had a pinched nerve in my neck! Such decisions! Hugs to all!

So had the EMG and pleased to say no sign of nerve damage (motor neurone disease)
What a relief!
Benign fasciculation syndrome is what causes the twitching they said.. the test was not bad at all! I'm used to pain in muscles, a little needle is not pain 🙂

I highly suggest you go ahead . That is how they discovered my nerve had been severed in a previous surgery. I thought my fibromyalgia was causing it. The test will tell you if you have a nerve problem or you don’t.

Donnam the only scary thing about the test is waiting to hear them tell you the results.. if you got twitching you know what I mean . I been waiting since August. It really is not painful so nothing to worry about 🙂

UGH, I hate EMGs. I've had them done on both my upper limbs and my lower limbs. I was more sensitive when they did my legs, but probably because my neck is more messed up.

I've had them done twice (or thrice if you count twice on arms, once on legs), and it can hurt more if the doctor doing it sucks, and not as bad if they're awesome and know what they're doing. EMGs mean needles poking you in multiple places, so be prepared to yelp/squeal.

I have a few disc bulges both on my lower back and my neck. Oh, and carpal tunnel. I need a new nervous system.
