Members rallied around someone struggling with severe depression and unsupportive family, emphasizing that this community offers judgment-free understanding and solidarity that loved ones sometimes cannot provide. Several members shared powerful stories of cutting toxic family members out of their lives for their health, describing the difficult but necessary choice to distance themselves from people who caused anxiety and emotional harm, even when those relationships were lifelong. A recurring theme was the importance of finding the right medication combination for depression and anxiety, with members discussing their experiences with various antidepressants, the challenge of medications losing effectiveness over time, and the value of trying different approaches like therapy, massage, and self-advocacy with doctors.

I don’t know if you saw my question about cutting ties with friends or family for your health. I cut my sister and my niece (her daughter) out of my life. I should have done it years ago. They both thrive on drama and I was always put in the middle of it. I was just a sound board for them and they weren’t interested in anything in my life unless it was bad. It’s been over 3 years since we’ve had any contact, I still have anxiety, but not as bad as it was when I had to deal with them.

Turn to this website and learn you're not alone. Those thoughts of depression and anxiety are pure evil. Say a prayer and keep praying. When you come to this site there is no judgement or mean spiritedness since we all have been there 1 way or the other. Just read some of the post you will see you're not alone
🙏💪.

I was at the doctors today. We talked for almost an hour, but really didn’t come up with a solution. He knows I hate taking meds, I mentioned amitriptyline, he said it’s an older antidepressant that is used in lower doses for pain. He said for anxiety I would have to take higher doses and that could come with side effects. He mentioned Nortriptyline, I know I’ve seen posts that other fibro members take it. So, I’m going to do more research, look into CBT, maybe start getting massages. He told me my neck, shoulders and back is full of knots. I have a knot on my spine in the middle of my back that’s so big you can see it, it looks like an egg. I hope it was the stress of the holidays then redoing our family room, now that it’s all over, maybe my anxiety will calm down 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m having anxiety just thinking about weaning off remeron. One good thing is, I found out remeron makes tapering strips.

Penelope.. I have been on Prozac for years although I tried weaning off of it several times. When I did, my symptoms returned. Unfortunately, what works for one person may not work for another..I’m sorry you are having such a rough time. Ask your doctor about Abilify. I don’t know if you have heard of it..I do think a lot of meds do not work as well over time which really stinks..I am on a cocktail of several different meds. I have to take breaks from my CBD oil as I build up a tolerance to it.
