Anything That Helps With Clohtes Being Painful?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Clothes hurt. SO bad. My biggest problem is my underarms and seams on shirts. I can only wear tank tops, hoodies, cardigans if they are loose enough. Anything else and im in tears within 20 minutes. Had anyone found anything that helps with that? Things like occupational therapy brushes?

I often have to change clothes because they become too painful. What feels ok one day will cause immense pain the next. It is always an experiment to see what will be tolerated on any day. Sometimes I too want to get rid of my hair. Haven't yet gotten to the point of cutting it all off but have come close. I do pin it away from my face and up when it is bothering me which seems to help. I don't wear a bra as that is intensely painful. Anything tight around my stomach will make me ill. So hate having to dress for the fibro instead of for style.

Not really, sometimes my hair hurts my skin and the one thing I did that I utterly regret was when I shaved it all off. Desperate for relief. I cant say it didn't help, it sure did, but I have been trying to grow my hair back now for a year. I laugh about it now, but only because I have a pixie going on... but as far as clothing, depending on the weather, winter is horrible because I wear socks and shoes, my ankles and feet feel the worse when it comes to my skin being on fire. I wear diabetic socks or soft woven. Sweaters are okay, but cotton sweat shirts help best for me. I also use coconut oil, yep, just like on the grocery shelf, at night I rub it on my skin (not a lot), and it helps with the intense feeling I get through my skin. You can use a soft velvet brush made for cleaning hair off of furniture and curtains, the velvet actually has helped temporarily just softly going across the skin. Not sure if this helps you, but I understand that pain from clothing or anything on my skin, when it hurts, the pain goes deep into the muscle and I can only wish you find the relief your looking for.

Wear stuff inside out. At least it gets rid of the seams. Only sometimes do the clothes bother me. I just wear my night and pants . I dont wear a bra at home.

I wear loose clothes too. Everything has spandex in it too. Nothing with trim or elastic that binds. No belts or nylons. Maybe try different fabrics, looking for one that won't irritate your nerve endings?Cotton, silk, linen, spandex, elastane...
