Birth Control To Moderate Flares During Periods?

Birth Control To Moderate Flares During Periods?

I've been doing well on the Medical medium protocol, even cheating here and there, but boy, I have flares every time I'm about to start menstruating and for the week of. So basically two weeks out of the month are bad. My doctor thought maybe birth control might help but years ago when I tried it, it made me crazy.
Does anyone else's pain get worse with their hormonal cycles and have you tried birth control?

Yes!!! Have terrible flares 1-2 weeks before period and then even through the entire period as of late. Started getting like this 6 months ago. Birth control worked great for me in the past but I stopped before I got Fibro because it obliterated my sex drive and I lost all physical sensation during sex. But, I had no pms. It evened me out. I am now thinking that I might try birth control again. Loss of sex drive would now be worth it, if it meant being able to function more days out of the month. Just want to say though that birth control is a commitment. Can’t stop and start it. And need to be consistent in whatever method you chose. The Nuva ring was a good concept but I had unwanted vagina discharge. So I used the pill. Didn’t have a problem remembering to take it every day. I already take so many pills that it would be hard to forget. You feel me? Good luck to you!!!

Ironically, my symptoms get less severe during my period. I've heard more individuals reference what you're saying though. I believe it's from hormone fluctuations-thus to variation from person to person. I've started keeping track because if my "x" symptom is less severe during a certain time of the month, I want whatever pill is going to keep me at that hormone level. I don't even care what it is anymore.

I had horrible time pre period and during period. I was put on birth control in my early 20s and although it helped some , it messed up my hormones for awhile after it was decided it was not the best treatment for me. I went through a false pregnancy and was miserable for several months.
Weigh the pros and cons.
