Birth Control To Moderate Flares During Periods?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I've been doing well on the Medical medium protocol, even cheating here and there, but boy, I have flares every time I'm about to start menstruating and for the week of. So basically two weeks out of the month are bad. My doctor thought maybe birth control might help but years ago when I tried it, it made me crazy.
Does anyone else's pain get worse with their hormonal cycles and have you tried birth control?

Ironically, my symptoms get less severe during my period. I've heard more individuals reference what you're saying though. I believe it's from hormone fluctuations-thus to variation from person to person. I've started keeping track because if my "x" symptom is less severe during a certain time of the month, I want whatever pill is going to keep me at that hormone level. I don't even care what it is anymore.

I had horrible time pre period and during period. I was put on birth control in my early 20s and although it helped some , it messed up my hormones for awhile after it was decided it was not the best treatment for me. I went through a false pregnancy and was miserable for several months.
Weigh the pros and cons.

Yes for many years, my daughter has fibromyalgia and is like us. Peri menopause was awful. Fibroids too. Birth control gave me headaches. Daughter was on it . After going off it, it took seven years for her to get pregnant! Our bodies hold onto the toxins and expel them slowly out of our bodies. Don’t overeat while on period and watch caffeine.
