@A MyFibroTeam Member why would you only take Amitriptyline when your pain is really bad? It needs to be in your system to work properly. I hope your doctor didn’t prescribe it that way?

2. Key facts
Amitriptyline is widely used to treat depression, but at lower doses it's also very good for treating pain.
Amitriptyline can make you feel sleepy so it's best to take it in the evening or before you go to bed.
You may notice a difference after a week or two but it can take 6 weeks for amitriptyline to work as a painkiller.
Amitriptyline can cause extra side effects if you stop taking it suddenly. Talk to your doctor if you're thinking of stopping taking amitriptyline.
@A MyFibroTeam Member you are correct, amitriptyline should be taking daily, it’s an antidepressant.
I thought amitriptyline had to be taken on a regular basis in order to work, and once you’re on it I thought you had to wean yourself off it. I did not know it could be taken on an as needed basis.
I used to use amitriptyline and have been on synthroid for year. I didn't see any complications.
Thanks I have an Endo chronologist appointment coming up with a blood test so I’ll know definitely but wasn’t sure if anybody had the same experience.
